County Waterford’s Treasures Shine in our Bespoke Itinerary Design

We developed five bespoke itineraries for County Waterford, highlighting the county’s overall appeal, its cultural treasures, the best places for outdoor adventure, the leading family-fun spots and the wonders of the House of Waterford Crystal.   

We developed five bespoke itineraries for County Waterford, highlighting the county’s overall appeal, its cultural treasures, the best places for outdoor adventure, the leading family-fun spots and the wonders of the House of Waterford Crystal.   

The House of Waterford Crystal approached Abarta Heritage seeking our services in developing five tourist itineraries for the county. Each themed itinerary would individually highlight the different elements that County Waterford has to offer a variety of visitors.

Working from a list of locations proposed by the client, the team assessed each place in terms of its quality, ease of access and the way the locations worked together as a group. We then undertook desk research of each location to ensure that all relevant historical and geographical information of interest was included.

Our copywriter distilled the information into easy-to-read and engaging copy. Using the latest GIS software, we produced accurate maps, pin pointing each location on the itineraries which our graphic designer then laid over with attractive graphics. Our designer then skilfully brought the text, a selection of images and the maps for each itinerary together in A4 layouts to facilitate print out from the web.

The client wanted these itineraries to align with the Ireland’s Ancient East (IAE) brand. So, consulting the brand guidelines, we applied the IAE colours, textures and fonts while maintaining a simple 3-column layout which is clear, attractive and easy to read.

As the project manager, Roisin developed a work schedule and assigned tasks to team members for the duration of the project. The best of County Waterford’s natural, cultural & entertainment assets were researched & selected to be included in each itinerary.

As the itineraries were being produced for direct printing from the web, we decided on a flat, double-sided, A4 format. While each itinerary was laid out in a similar manner, each was given a separate ‘main’ colour, which related to the content, but also distinguished each itinerary from each other.
